On-device AI — your photo never uploads

Remove Background

Erase the background from any photo in one click. An AI model runs entirely in your browser — no upload, no watermark — and you get a clean transparent PNG.

Cutting out the background of a photo usually means uploading your image to someone else's server. Resizor does it differently: the background remover runs entirely in your browser using an on-device AI segmentation model. Your photo never leaves your computer, there's no watermark, and it's completely free.

Click Remove Background and the subject is automatically detected and separated from its background, leaving clean transparency behind. The first run downloads the AI model (~40 MB) and caches it for next time. Drop the cutout onto a solid color, white, or a blurred version of the original, then export a transparent PNG or WebP — perfect for product shots, profile pictures, stickers, and thumbnails.

// Three steps

How it works

01

Open Your Image

Drop a photo into the editor. JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC and more are supported — and nothing is uploaded.

02

Remove Background

Open the “Remove Background” panel and click the button. An AI model runs on your device to cut out the subject.

03

Edit & Export

Resize, crop, or pad the cutout, then export as a transparent PNG or WebP.

Frequently asked questions

Q1Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. Background removal runs entirely in your browser using an on-device AI model. Your image never leaves your computer.
Q2Why does it download something the first time?
The first time you remove a background, the AI model (~40 MB) is downloaded and cached by your browser. Subsequent cutouts are fast and work offline.
Q3What format is the result?
A transparent PNG by default, so the erased background shows through. You can also export to WebP, which supports transparency at smaller sizes. JPEG does not support transparency and will fill the background white.
Q4Can I put a new background behind the subject?
Yes. After removing the background, use the Background controls to place the cutout on a solid color, white, or a blurred version of the original — or export the transparent PNG and composite it elsewhere.
Q5What kinds of images work best?
People, products, and objects with a reasonably clear subject work best. Very fine details like loose hair or transparent glass are the hardest cases for any automatic tool.
